NGC 6946, The Fireworks Galaxy

This is a wonderful galaxy in the constellation of Cygnus. Having located the galaxy with a low power eyepiece, both the open cluster, NGC 6930 and the Fireworks galaxy were in the same field-of-view. The galaxy almost looked like a ghost of the open cluster.

This is one of those galaxies that the longer you look, the more you see. I only spent about 15 to 20 minutes looking before I started sketching. Looking back I now wish that I had spent more time looking at this one before sketching. Still though, I saw more detail than I thought I would. I hope you enjoy this sketch.
