NGC 2261

One of the objects that I had the most fun observing back on March 1, 2011 was Hubble’s Variable Nebula. I have always known that it changed over time but I didn’t realize that it changed appearance from day-to-day or week-to-week. This would make a great observation project. You could photograph it or even sketch it at regular intervals and watch the variability of this nebula. Here is my sketch from March.
